Justice Mamidanna Satya Ratna Sri Ramachandra Rao, newly appointed Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court, will take oath of office tomorrow at 10 AM in a formal ceremony at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan in Agartala.
The Governor of Tripura will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Justice Ramachandra Rao, who arrived in Agartala on Monday ahead of the ceremony.
Justice Ramachandra Rao’s appointment follows a significant reshuffle in the Indian judiciary. As per a notification issued by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice, on July 14, 2025, the President of India approved his transfer from the post of Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court to lead the Tripura High Court. The transfer was made under clause (1) of Article 222 of the Constitution of India, following a recommendation from the Supreme Court Collegium and in consultation with the Chief Justice of India.
He will succeed Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, who has been transferred to the Telangana High Court as part of the same administrative reshuffle.
Justice Ramachandra Rao brings with him extensive judicial experience, and his appointment is expected to bolster the judicial leadership in Tripura.
