Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday asserted that the state government is committed to delivering good governance across Tripura, with a sharp focus on infrastructure development and the welfare of tribal communities.

He informed that development projects worth Rs 612 crore have either been inaugurated or had their foundation stones laid across the state till June 2025.

Dr. Saha made these remarks while inaugurating a slew of development projects at Sabroom in South Tripura district.

Among the key projects, he inaugurated the newly constructed 100-bed ST Girls’ Hostel at Sabroom Girls’ Higher Secondary School. Several other development projects were also inaugurated virtually during the event.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building a Viksit Bharat, stating that the era of Amrit Kaal has begun, aiming to uplift every citizen through holistic development.

“The primary focus of this government is infrastructure development, self-respect, socio-economic progress, and security. When all states work together in this mission, a prosperous India will be realised. Our government in Tripura is ensuring transparency and people-centric development,” Dr. Saha said.

He noted that of the Rs 612 crore worth of projects initiated till June this year, he personally inaugurated all of them.

Dr. Saha underscored the government's emphasis on upgrading educational infrastructure including in 2024, new buildings were constructed in 44 schools at a cost of Rs 153 crore, during 2024–25, about Rs 81 crore was spent to renovate 346 schools and in the financial year 2025–26, Rs 264 crore has been allocated for constructing new buildings in 30 more schools.

“We want our children to study in a good environment. That’s why we’re investing in modern, well-equipped schools,” he said.

Dr. Saha said that the government has taken several initiatives for the holistic development of Janajati (tribal) communities, alongside promoting self-reliance through Self Help Groups (SHGs).

“Before 2018, Tripura had only around 4,000–5,000 SHGs. Today, that number has risen to over 56,000. We’re also focusing on the growth of agriculture and tourism,” he added.

The Chief Minister reiterated that while infrastructure remains a key pillar, the ultimate goal is to enhance the quality of life for every citizen of the state.
