Decomposed body dound in Bangeshwar River of Agartala

A decomposed body was recovered from the Bangeshwar river in the Pratapgarh area of Agartala city on Tuesday morning, triggering shock and panic among local residents.

According to police, the mutilated and unidentified body was discovered near the Ghoshpara stretch of the river after residents noticed a foul smell spreading across the area.

Following the stench, they searched along the riverbank and were horrified to find a heavily decomposed corpse lying beside the water.

“The smell was unbearable this morning. We didn’t notice anything unusual last night, but when we traced the source, we found the body,” a local resident told reporters.

Police were immediately informed and rushed to the spot. The body, which was found in a severely damaged state with several limbs — including parts of the hands and feet — detached from the torso, was sent for autopsy.

The identity of the deceased and the exact cause of death remain unknown. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and an investigation is underway.
