Tripura Forest Minister inaugurates Renovated TNTR Sepahijala Resort, e-bike service to boost eco-tourism

Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma on Wednesday inaugurated the renovated TNTR Sepahijala Resort and the TNTR E-Bike Service at Sepahijala, aiming to enhance the tourism experience while promoting environmentally sustainable travel.

The newly introduced e-bike service is expected to provide visitors with a convenient and eco-friendly way to explore the natural surroundings of Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary and its zoo. The initiative seeks to combine tourism development with environmental responsibility, allowing visitors to experience the region’s biodiversity and scenic beauty while reducing dependence on conventional transport for local exploration.

The renovation of the resort is also expected to improve facilities for tourists visiting the area, strengthening Sepahijala’s appeal as a destination for nature lovers, families and wildlife enthusiasts.

Speaking on the occasion, Debbarma emphasised the importance of promoting nature-based tourism while safeguarding the state’s ecological wealth. He said the initiatives reflected the government’s commitment to developing tourism infrastructure without compromising the conservation of natural resources.

Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary is among Tripura’s prominent nature tourism destinations, attracting visitors interested in wildlife, greenery and biodiversity. The introduction of e-bike facilities is expected to offer tourists an additional way to explore the area.

The initiatives form part of broader efforts to promote sustainable tourism in Tripura by improving visitor amenities and encouraging environmentally conscious ways of experiencing the state’s natural heritage.

The Forest Department’s focus, the minister said, remains on balancing tourism development with conservation to ensure that Tripura’s natural assets are preserved for future generations.
