Food Department Workers Key to Tripura’s Food Security, Says Minister

Recognising the role of frontline employees in maintaining the state's food distribution network, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury joined 659 warehouse workers at a Bijoya Sammilani programme at the Central Stores in AD Nagar, Agartala, on Wednesday and distributed new clothes among them.

The gathering provided an opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of food department employees whose work often remains behind the scenes but is essential to ensuring the availability of foodgrains across Tripura.

Interacting with the workers, Chowdhury exchanged Bijoya greetings and conveyed his appreciation for their contribution to the department. He highlighted the importance of their responsibilities in the storage, handling and distribution of foodgrains, which are critical to the uninterrupted functioning of the state's food supply system.

The minister stressed that an efficient food distribution mechanism depends not only on administrative planning but also on the dedication and coordination of employees working at different levels. Their commitment, he said, helps ensure that essential commodities reach the people in an orderly and timely manner.

He also underscored the need to strengthen teamwork and maintain a sense of shared responsibility within the department. Better coordination among officials and workers, he noted, would help improve operational efficiency and reinforce the government's commitment to public welfare.

The distribution of new clothes added a festive dimension to the programme, bringing together the minister and the employees in a spirit of goodwill and solidarity during the post-Durga Puja celebrations.

Chowdhury extended his warm wishes to the workers and their families on the occasion of Bijoya, expressing hope that the spirit of unity and cooperation would continue to guide their work in serving the people of Tripura.
