The Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun stepping up its organisational activities ahead of the upcoming Village Committee elections and other local body polls in the state.

A high-level organisational meeting was held in Agartala on Tuesday to assess the party’s preparedness, strengthen its grassroots network and discuss the political roadmap for the elections ahead. The meeting was led by Tripura BJP president and MLA Abhishek Debroy and attended by Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, ministers, legislators and senior party functionaries.

Party leaders reviewed organisational arrangements at the grassroots level and discussed ways to improve coordination among workers and strengthen booth-level activities. Preparations for elections to Village Committees, along with upcoming Nagar Panchayat, Municipal Council and Municipal Corporation polls, featured prominently in the discussions.

Speaking to the media following the meeting, Debroy said the BJP was focusing on building a strong organisational structure and ensuring that party workers remained prepared for the electoral challenges ahead.

He said the meeting covered a range of organisational matters, with the Village Committee elections receiving particular attention. According to him, the party is working on its strategy and will finalise its course of action after taking all relevant factors into consideration.

The possibility of continuing an electoral understanding with the Tipra Motha Party also came up during interactions with reporters. Debroy said talks on the matter were ongoing and indicated that no final decision had been taken yet.

He pointed out that Tipra Motha is currently a partner in the alliance and said any major decision concerning alliances would be taken in consultation with the BJP’s central leadership.

Debroy added that discussions were progressing and that the final position would be communicated once the consultation process was completed.

The BJP leadership is expected to intensify organisational programmes and grassroots mobilisation in the coming days as the state moves closer to the local body election season.
