The Tipra Motha Party (TMP) on Monday sought a detailed inquiry into the manner in which its questions were listed in the Tripura Legislative Assembly, alleging that its queries were placed at the end despite being submitted ahead of those of other legislators.

The issue was raised by TMP MLA Ranjit Debbarma on the third and final day of the Assembly session. He said the party’s legislators had been waiting throughout the three-day session for an opportunity to raise important public issues and seek answers from the government.

“We are being discriminated against. If this continues, we will leave the House. However, we have faith in the Speaker. We are elected representatives and have come here to raise issues concerning the people, but we are unable to do so. The matter must be investigated,” Debbarma said.

He claimed that TMP had submitted its questions before the other parties, yet its queries were repeatedly placed towards the end of the list.

“You can verify that we submitted our questions first. Despite this, our questions have been placed at the end for the last three days, leaving us with little opportunity to raise them. Why were our questions placed last even though they were submitted first? We want an investigation into the matter,” he said.

TMP MLAs Biswajit Kalai and Sanjoy Manik Tripura also raised objections, stating that they had submitted their questions before others and, therefore, expected them to receive priority in the listing.

The MLAs alleged that there could have been a conspiracy behind the manner in which the questions were listed and called for a fresh inquiry into the matter.

Later, following an assurance from Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Speaker Rampada Jamatia agreed to conduct an investigation into the issue.
