Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharya has called for the establishment of a modern, technology-driven residential skill development and employment centre in Tripura to empower the state’s tribal youth and equip them with skills for future opportunities.

Raising the issue in the Rajya Sabha, Bhattacharya emphasised the need for focused initiatives to enhance the capabilities of young people, particularly those from tribal communities. He said that a state-of-the-art skill development centre would play a crucial role in providing advanced training, promoting self-reliance and opening new avenues of employment for the youth.

Highlighting the development journey of the Northeast, the MP said that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi took charge in 2014, the region witnessed a significant transformation through various initiatives in infrastructure, connectivity, education, skill development and employment generation.

Bhattacharya stated that the proposed residential skill development hub, equipped with modern technology and industry-oriented training facilities, would help tribal youth acquire advanced skills and enable them to make meaningful contributions to the state’s progress as well as the nation’s growth.

During his address, the Rajya Sabha MP also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of the people of Tripura for showcasing the state’s traditional musical instrument Chongpreng and renowned folk artist Suraj Kumar Debbarma in the popular radio programme Mann Ki Baat.

He said the Prime Minister’s recognition has brought national attention to Tripura’s rich cultural traditions and will encourage local artists and cultural practitioners to preserve and promote the state’s heritage.

Reiterating the vision of “Viksit Tripura, Viksit Bharat,” Bhattacharya said that efforts towards the comprehensive development of Tripura, empowerment of tribal communities and protection of the state’s cultural identity will remain a continued priority in the coming years.
