Tripura Police in Jatrabari seized 10.3 kg of dried cannabis and 76 grams of suspected yaba tablets during a narcotics raid at Laltilla village on Thursday.
According to police, the operation was conducted on the basis of specific intelligence regarding the presence of illegal drugs at a residence in the area. A police team raided the house of local resident Dulal Hossain and carried out a thorough search.
During the search, police allegedly recovered 10.3 kg of dried cannabis from inside the house. The team then searched a black-coloured vehicle parked near the residence and recovered 76 grams of yaba tablets from it.
Following the recovery, police detained Dulal Hossain and took him to Jatrabari Police Station for questioning. The seized narcotics and the vehicle were also brought to the police station.
Investigators are now examining the source of the drugs and the suspected role of the detained person in the possession, transportation or possible trafficking of the narcotics.
Police said necessary legal action has been initiated and further investigation is underway.
