Even before voting takes place for Tripura’s Village Committee elections, the Tipra Motha Party has claimed that it has secured 1,148 seats uncontested around 25 per cent of the total 4,597 seats up for election.

According to the party, Tipra Motha candidates have been elected unopposed in 1,148 seats across the state in the ongoing Village Committee Election 2026.

The figure assumes significance as the Village Committee elections are being held after a long gap and are being viewed as an important test of political support in Tripura’s tribal areas.

The elections are also taking place against the backdrop of an understanding reached among the ruling BJP, Tipra Motha and the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) over seat-sharing.

The concentration of uncontested seats claimed by Tipra Motha is particularly notable across several blocks in the state’s tribal belt. The party said its uncontested victories are spread across districts, including four blocks in Dhalai, three in Gomati, five in Khowai, four in North Tripura, three in Sepahijala, six in South Tripura, two in Unakoti and three in West Tripura.

With 4,597 seats spread across 2,634 constituencies, the Village Committee polls are among the most significant grassroots elections in the state’s tribal areas.

The final picture, however, will emerge after the completion of the election process, including scrutiny of nominations and withdrawal of candidature.

The claimed 1,148 uncontested seats could give Tipra Motha a significant organisational and political advantage even before polling is held for the remaining seats.
