Tripura BJP president Abhishek Debroy on Tuesday said the party would address any organisational differences at the mandal level through its established mechanism, while warning that indiscipline and anti-party activities would invite strict action.
Addressing a press conference at the state BJP headquarters, Debroy said the party regularly restructures its organisational committees as part of its three-year organisational cycle. He clarified that a worker whose name is not included in a newly formed committee should not be viewed as having been removed from the BJP.
According to the state BJP chief, party workers can continue to remain associated with the organisation in different capacities even after changes in organisational committees. He said the formation of mandal committees follows the BJP’s organisational procedures and is carried out under the supervision of the party leadership, including the central leadership.
Responding to questions about reported differences between mandal-level leaders and party workers, Debroy said genuine organisational problems would be examined and resolved through the appropriate party forum.
However, he made it clear that the party would not compromise on discipline. “Anti-party activities will not be tolerated,” he said, adding that disciplinary measures would be taken against those found working against the interests of the organisation.
Debroy also announced a month-long programme in Tripura to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. The BJP will organise various events across the state from September 17 to October 17.
He highlighted Modi’s long political career, recalling his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister before becoming Prime Minister in 2014. He claimed that the country had undergone major changes during Modi’s tenure as Prime Minister.
The month-long celebrations will include drawing competitions, Namo Seva programmes, activities at Anganwadi centres, various service-oriented initiatives and a “Seva Mashaal” march. The programmes, he said, are intended to strengthen public participation and spread awareness about social service and the initiatives of the BJP-led government.
