A newly constructed 50-bedded Civil Hospital in Agartala is fully ready for inauguration, with formal opening expected shortly, State Health Secretary Kiran Gitte said on Friday.

The health secretary, along with Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder and senior officials of the Health Department, inspected the hospital building and reviewed its infrastructure ahead of the launch.

Speaking to reporters after the inspection, Gitte said the project was initiated under the guidance of Chief Minister Manik Saha. The foundation stone was laid in April last year, and construction along with all essential preparations has now been completed.

He added that seven doctors, along with required paramedical staff, have already been appointed to ensure the facility becomes operational immediately after inauguration. The hospital has been built with financial support from the National Health Mission.

Initially, the new facility will function under the supervision of the Medical Superintendent of IGM Hospital. Patients requiring general treatment will be able to access services at the Civil Hospital or nearby Urban Primary Health Centres, while specialised cases will be referred to GBP Hospital and IGM Hospital.

Officials said the hospital is equipped with modern healthcare infrastructure, including an oxygen generation plant, emergency services, and adequate parking facilities. The final inauguration date will be announced after receiving approval from the Chief Minister.

Mayor Dipak Majumder noted that the new hospital is expected to ease the patient load on GBP and IGM Hospitals, significantly improving healthcare access for city residents. He expressed confidence that the facility will be inaugurated later this month.
