Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday indicated that the BJP and Tipra Motha may once again come together for the upcoming Village Council elections, stating that discussions on a possible alliance are currently in progress.

Speaking to reporters, Saha said negotiations were underway from the BJP's side and ruled out the possibility of closing the door on an electoral understanding with Tipra Motha.

The Chief Minister pointed out that the two parties are already alliance partners and said developments surrounding the previous TTAADC elections should not necessarily influence their present political relationship.

"Talks are on and I cannot say that it cannot happen," Saha said, maintaining that the possibility of an alliance remains open.

He further asserted that the BJP has always remained open to alliances and does not ordinarily walk away from its partners. According to him, if a partner chooses to leave an alliance, the BJP cannot prevent such a decision.

"There are high chances of an alliance in the Village Council election," the Chief Minister said.

His remarks come ahead of the Village Council polls, with negotiations between the BJP and Tipra Motha expected to focus on the possibility of a joint electoral strategy and seat-sharing arrangement. A formal understanding, however, is yet to be announced.
