Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to merit-based recruitment, transparency, and inclusive development, stating that a total of 19,742 government jobs—including die-in-harness cases—have been provided since 2018.
Addressing a large gathering at the Junior Engineer appointment letter distribution ceremony under the Public Works Department (PWD) at Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala, the Chief Minister said,
“This government is working towards holistic development—be it job creation, transparency, infrastructure, or social welfare. We are selecting candidates purely on merit and qualification.”
Highlighting the rapid pace of technological progress, Dr. Saha said this is the era of Artificial Intelligence, and the state must adapt to emerging technologies in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Prime Minister Modi is committed to Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas. His government has launched numerous welfare schemes for every section of society, including the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, which has allocated ₹13,000 crore for the upliftment of 18 traditional professions,” he added.
Dr. Saha also announced that ₹7,000 crore has been allocated in the current financial year for infrastructure development, with the goal of creating a more developed and modern Tripura.
“If the implementation is successful and transparent, we aim to raise the budget to ₹10,000 crore next year. The Central Government has recognized our good governance and the merit-based systems we are following,” the Chief Minister said.
He asserted that the trust of job-seekers and their families in the recruitment process has increased substantially under the current administration.
“Under this government, there is no need for protests, party office visits, or political lobbying for jobs. Appointments are made strictly on merit, and after selection, proper training is also being arranged,” Dr. Saha added.
Dr. Saha stated that until June 27, a total of 19,484 people had been appointed to regular posts, and with the inclusion of today's appointments, the number has now reached 19,742. Besides these, numerous individuals have also been engaged on a contractual and outsourcing basis.
