Tripura Congress MLA alleges recruitment corruption in higher institutions, CM vows action

Former Minister and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman has called for a thorough investigation into alleged corruption in the recruitment process at several prestigious institutions in Tripura.

Addressing the Tripura Legislative Assembly during Zero Hour on Tuesday, he urged Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha to intervene in alleged irregularities at Tripura Central University, the National Institute of Technology, the National Law University, and the Forensic University.

Roy Barman claimed that large-scale favoritism and malpractice were prevalent in the hiring process at these institutions.

He alleged that Tripura University's Vice-Chancellor had illegally recruited his son, daughter-in-law, and her associates.

Furthermore, he raised concerns about discrimination against local candidates, stating that officials were making racial remarks and favoring outsiders over Tripura's own qualified youth.

"In the National Law University, five candidates from Tripura are working as Assistant Professors, yet they are still on probation despite having strong qualifications. Now, they have been instructed to continue their probation for another year, which is completely unjust," Roy Barman stated.

Calling the situation unacceptable, he urged the Chief Minister to take strict action to ensure fairness in the recruitment process.

In response, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha acknowledged the concerns and assured the Assembly that he was gathering more information on the matter. "I am aware of these allegations. I am looking into the details, and where legal action is required, necessary steps will be taken," he assured.
