Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today said that the BJP and Tipra Motha alliance government is not paying attention to the burning issues of the state and should not be supported in power.
Sarkar, who is also a CPI(M) Politburo member, made this statement while addressing an event at Agartala Town Hall on Friday.
Speaking at the meeting, the former Chief Minister said that people are suffering from problems related to food, clothing, housing, education, and health.
“The BJP and Tipra Motha government are not paying attention to these issues. They should not be supported in power. Those who try to run the state with such an approach cannot continue for long. Their own people will throw them out,” he said.
Sarkar stated that the people of the state elect those who care for the exploited masses.
“There are examples of this in different countries and states,” he said, adding that the state government is afraid, terrified, and suffering from isolation.
“The ruling party knows the results of the 2023 Assembly Election better than the opposition CPI(M). Therefore, they are trying to control CPI(M) MLAs so that they cannot raise their voices by bringing external fights into the assembly. They are trying to destroy democracy, and these are not signs of strength,” he added.
He condemned the attacks on CPI(M) leaders in Agartala, calling them highly deplorable.
“But once again, a large meeting will be organized this time,” he said.
Addressing party workers, Sarkar warned that neglecting current responsibilities would be a mistake. He urged them to focus on the present rather than the 2028 assembly elections.
Sarkar called for taking an oath to fight the current situation so that no one can accuse the party of inaction.
