In a joint operation based on confidential inputs, three Bangladeshi nationals — including a young woman — were apprehended from Agartala Railway Station on Saturday late evening.
The trio reportedly entered India illegally and were planning to travel further by train.
The operation was jointly conducted by the Agartala Government Railway Police Station (GRPS), Agartala Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and the Intelligence Department.
Officer-in Charge of GRP, Agartala, Tapas Das said that the arrested individuals have been identified as Kamrun Nesa (23) – resident of Dhaka, Bangladesh, who is a Bangladeshi tout, Md. Ismail Hossain (22) – Resident of Chittagong, and Mohammad Nur Hossain (25) – Resident of Chittagong, Bangladesh.
“Preliminary interrogation revealed that Kamrun Nesa intended to travel to Bengaluru via Kolkata, while the two youths were en route to Chennai, also via Kolkata. The three are being interrogated in phases at the Agartala GRP police station. Officials suspect the involvement of a larger network and hinted at the possibility of more arrests as the investigation progresses. A case has been registered at Agartala GRP Police Station, and the trio produced before court”, he said.
