17,500 Govt jobs filled, 13,000 more on the cards: Tripura Finance Minister

Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Saturday announced that the state government has filled 17,500 government posts across multiple departments and is set to recruit over 13,000 more permanent employees in the near future.

Speaking at an appointment letter distribution ceremony for 11 newly recruited Small Savings Inspectors, where he attended as the chief guest, Roy highlighted the state government's ongoing recruitment efforts.

“The present administration has been facilitating government employment for the state’s youth through transparent means for the past seven years. Recruitment is being carried out strictly in line with established rules and procedures via TPSC, JRBT, and other authorized bodies,” the Finance Minister stated.

He underlined the government's commitment to addressing vacancies across departments and emphasized that the recruitment drive is part of a sustained effort to boost public service delivery in Tripura.

Stressing the role of the Small Savings Department, Roy said, “This department is key to promoting savings. A healthy Credit-Deposit (CD) ratio reflects strong banking activity, which directly contributes to the state’s economic development. Many central and state government schemes are implemented through banks, and the Small Savings Department monitors their progress.”

Touching upon the lingering issue of chit fund and microfinance scams, he recalled how many citizens were defrauded before the current government came to power. “Under the Centre’s directives, properties linked to such scams are being auctioned, and the proceeds are being deposited into the government’s account. Steps are being taken to ensure the victims are reimbursed,” he added.

Congratulating the newly appointed inspectors, Roy urged them to perform their duties with integrity and dedication. “Your future depends on your performance. Only sincere efforts and accountability will lead to a brighter path,” he said. He also called upon senior officials to mentor and support the new recruits, ensuring they receive adequate training and guidance in their roles.
