Two Bangladeshi nationals held in Tripura

Two Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended by Tripura Police at the Belfangai Naka point in Baijal Bari on the Khowai-Mohanpur stretch of the national highway of Khowai District on Saturday evening.

According to official sources, the incident occurred during a routine vehicle check by personnel from Baijal Bari Police Station. 

An autorickshaw carrying two passengers, en route to Khowai from Mohanpur via Baijal Bari, was intercepted at the naka point. Upon questioning, the two passengers initially claimed they were travelling from Mohanpur to Khowai. However, during further interrogation, they admitted to being Bangladeshi nationals.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Khokon Sarkar and Anik Sarkar, both residents of Bangladesh. They are currently being interrogated by the police at Baijal Bari Police Station to ascertain their purpose of visit and possible links with any local contacts.

Security has been heightened in the area, and authorities are investigating whether the duo entered the country illegally or were assisted by local agents.

Further legal proceedings will follow based on the outcome of the interrogation and verification process.
