The joy of Holi turned into tragedy after a young man lost his life in a road accident in Kanchanpur on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Akash Nath (22), a resident of the Shantipur area in Kanchanpur. The tragic incident took place near the Badhupada area, adjacent to Kanchanpur town.

According to sources, Akash had gone to Badhupada on his bike (registration number TR 02 J 7970) to celebrate Holi with his friends. While riding along the road, his motorcycle reportedly crashed into a roadside wall with great force. He died on the spot due to the impact.

Fire service personnel later recovered the body from the scene and brought it to Kanchanpur Sub-Divisional Hospital. The body has been kept in the hospital morgue for further formalities.

Police from Kanchanpur Police Station have launched an investigation into the incident.

The tragic death of the young man on a day meant for celebration has cast a pall of gloom over the entire area.
