Routine and emergency imaging services at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital have been severely affected due to multiple non-functional X-ray machines.

According to an official report from the hospital authority, only one Digital Radiography (DR) machine located in the Trauma Care Centre is currently operational, restricting access for general and emergency patients.

Of the three DR machines available, two have been out of service for the past few days. A new machine has been installed and is in the final stages of installation. Meanwhile, the DR machine in the Dedicated COVID Hospital (DCH) is non-functional due to a battery issue; however, the replacement process is underway.

The DR machine in the super-specialty block, which recently developed a detector issue, has had its component replaced and is undergoing trial runs to assess durability and performance.

Despite the acute shortage of radiographers and technical support staff, the Radiology Department continues to provide urgent and essential imaging services to patients. Authorities maintain that they are committed to ensuring uninterrupted patient care amid these technical and manpower constraints.
