A disturbing case of suspected arson has sent shockwaves through the Mayachhari area near the local playground under Kamalpur Subdivision, where a widow’s residence was allegedly set on fire twice within a span of just two days.

According to local residents, unidentified miscreants targeted the same house in two separate incidents, causing extensive destruction and leaving the family in severe distress. Furniture, household items, essential belongings, and other valuables were completely destroyed in the fires.

Sources said the first blaze broke out on Monday. While the fire caused significant damage, some household possessions remained intact. Residents reportedly suspected foul play after noticing signs indicating that the fire may have been deliberately set. Following the incident, police visited the location and carried out a preliminary investigation.

However, the situation took a more alarming turn on Tuesday night when unknown individuals allegedly returned to the property and set it ablaze again. Locals claim that a large quantity of kerosene was used, causing the fire to spread rapidly. The second incident proved devastating, reducing the entire structure to ashes and leaving nothing recoverable.

Upon learning of the fire, nearby residents rushed to the scene and made efforts to contain the flames. Despite their attempts, the intensity of the blaze prevented them from saving most of the property.

Neighbours stated that the widow, who owns the house, was away in Deoghar at the time of the incident and was not present during either attack. Preliminary assessments indicate that the total loss may exceed ₹10 lakh.

The repeated attacks have triggered fear and concern among local residents, many of whom believe the incidents were pre-planned. They have demanded a comprehensive investigation, swift identification of those responsible, and strict legal action against the perpetrators. Residents have also urged authorities to strengthen security measures in the area to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Police have once again visited the site and launched a detailed investigation. Officials stated that all possible angles are being examined to determine the exact cause of the fire and identify those involved. Necessary legal procedures are currently underway.
