Tripura Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy on Wednesday left the general meeting of the Paschim Tripura Zila Parishad at the conference hall of the West District Magistrate’s office, citing the delay in the scheduled proceedings and lack of information about the change in timing.
The meeting was initially scheduled for 1 pm, but it had not commenced even after the scheduled time. The Congress legislator said he was later informed that the meeting would be held around 2 pm.
Roy questioned the manner in which the change in schedule was communicated, saying that members should be informed in advance if an official meeting is likely to be delayed.
“There can be unavoidable circumstances and administrative reasons for postponing or delaying a meeting. But the members should be informed about it,” Roy said.
He said administrative meetings involving elected representatives should follow the scheduled timing as far as possible. According to him, a delay of a few minutes could be understandable, but a substantial change in the scheduled time without proper communication creates inconvenience for participants.
“I have other work as well. If the meeting is being deferred, there should be someone to communicate the reason to all the members,” he said.
Roy maintained that changes in meeting schedules can occur because of unforeseen circumstances, but stressed that timely communication is necessary to ensure coordination among elected representatives and officials.
His departure from the meeting highlighted concerns over coordination and communication regarding the scheduling of official proceedings.
