A tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the Uttar Chebri community under Khowai District  as a widow reportedly gave birth to a stillborn child under distressing circumstances.

According to local sources, the widow had been allegedly involved in an unlawful sexual relationship with a man named Anukul Pal for the past year and a half. The woman has claimed that over the last 15 days, Anukul Pal coerced her into terminating her pregnancy by exerting mental pressure and providing her with abortive medication.

The widow reportedly fell ill after consuming the medication and was eventually admitted to Chebri Primary Health Centre. Initially, she did not disclose the full details to the doctors. However, after medical examination, the health staff discovered she was pregnant. Shortly thereafter, the woman delivered a stillborn child. She later buried the child in a private grave, as per her statement.

The news of the incident quickly spread across the locality, provoking widespread anger among the residents of Uttar Chebri. Locals have reportedly started searching for Anukul Pal, who is currently untraceable. Community members allege that Anukul Pal has exploited multiple women in the area, leaving several victims in distress.

Residents have expressed strong demands for strict legal action against Anukul Pal, stating that individuals involved in such heinous acts cannot be allowed to live freely in the community.

Police authorities have yet to confirm whether a formal case has been registered against Anukul Pal, but the incident has sparked significant public outrage.

This tragic event has once again highlighted the vulnerability of women subjected to coercion and the urgent need for effective legal and social safeguards in the area.
