Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, planted saplings today at the premises of Nabin Nagar Girls’ Higher Secondary School. During his visit, he also interacted with the school authorities and discussed various issues related to education and environmental awareness.
Speaking to the media afterwards, Sonowal highlighted the importance of tree plantation and environmental conservation. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens across the country to plant more trees as part of efforts to combat climate change.
The minister emphasized that tree plantation not only helps reduce pollution but also strengthens the fight against climate change. He called upon people from all sections of society to actively participate in protecting the environment and contribute towards building a cleaner and greener India.
Among those present at the programme were Education Department Secretary Dr. Milind Ramteke, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, Joint Director of Secondary Education Asim Saha, and the Principal of Nabin Nagar Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Jhulan Haldar Sarkar.
