Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that the Union Budget places strong emphasis on development across all sectors, including education, healthcare, defence, and infrastructure.

Addressing the Budget Yuva Conference organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Pradesh Yuva Morcha in Agartala, the Chief Minister said the budget reflects the vision and thinking of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, underlining that every citizen must fulfil their responsibilities with dedication for nation-building.

Dr. Saha noted that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget for nearly one hour and twenty-five minutes.

“She is the only woman Finance Minister to have presented the Union Budget nine times consecutively. We all witnessed this historic moment on our television screens. This budget embodies Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047,” he said.

He further explained that the budget has been structured with clear demarcation of sectors. “The Union Budget has now been presented nearly 80 times. Earlier, the Railway Budget and the General Budget were presented separately. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office, both were merged into a single budget,” Dr. Saha added.

Highlighting the significance of the budget, the Chief Minister said its primary objective is to outline the country’s income and expenditure while identifying priority sectors.

“The budget sets the direction for development in crucial areas such as infrastructure and health. Financial provisions are made accordingly. This year, nearly 15 per cent of the total budget has been allocated to the defence sector,” he said.

Dr. Saha also reiterated Prime Minister Modi’s focus on four key sections of society—youth, farmers, the poor, and women.

“If these four classes progress, there will be no need for caste-based divisions in society. Keeping them at the centre, several important provisions have been made in this year’s budget,” he said.

With special emphasis on employment generation, the Chief Minister said the budget proposes the creation of 3.5 crore jobs through the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana. He added that the budget gives priority to farmers’ welfare by ensuring fair prices for agricultural produce and strengthening infrastructure in the agriculture sector.

The conference was also attended by BJP State President and Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharya, former MP Rebati Tripura, Yuva Morcha President and MLA Sushanta Deb, along with other party leaders and workers.
