Uber bikers in Agartala have announced that they will suspend their services indefinitely from Wednesday unless the ‘Bike Saver’ service is completely withdrawn.

More than 200 Uber bikers gathered near Heritage Park on Wednesday to stage a protest. Speaking to the media, the bikers raised several grievances regarding their working conditions and earnings.

According to the protesting riders, many roads across the city are currently in poor condition due to ongoing work under the Smart City project. Despite these challenges, they claim to have continued providing regular services. However, they alleged that they have not received the necessary support or cooperation from the Uber office located at Banamalipur on BK Road.

The primary concern highlighted by the bikers is the introduction of the ‘Bike Saver’ service, which they say has significantly reduced their income. They argued that lower fares under this service have adversely affected their earnings. Although they have reportedly informed the authorities about the issue for a long time, they claim that no effective steps have been taken to address their concerns.

The bikers also alleged that Uber drivers in Tripura receive lower remuneration compared to their counterparts in neighboring states. Rising fuel prices, vehicle maintenance costs, and other operational expenses have further added to their financial burden.

In light of these issues, the protesting bikers stated that they will continue their indefinite strike until the ‘Bike Saver’ service is completely canceled.
