In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, police in Tripura have seized around 50 kg of dried cannabis from a passenger bus traveling from Bilonia to Agartala. Two women from Bihar have been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to police, the operation was carried out on Sunday when a naka checking was conducted in front of Gorji Police Station under the supervision of OC Tapan Das. The bus was stopped for inspection, and during a thorough search, the large quantity of cannabis was discovered.
The two women, found to be laborers working at Chiomara brick kiln in Bilonia, were detained after their movements appeared suspicious. Police suspect they intended to smuggle the drugs out of the state via Agartala railway station while returning to Bihar.
Radha Kishorepur Police Station OC Sanjib Laskar stated that the estimated market value of the seized ganja is approximately Rs 3 lakh. A case has been registered, and further legal action is underway against the accused.
