Tripura Police from the Ramnagar Outpost and West Police Station carried out a late-night joint operation in the Bitarban area of the capital, leading to the arrest of two alleged thieves.

The arrested individuals, identified as Jakir Hossain and Sagar Das, were found in possession of a gold chain weighing around 9 grams. The recovered item is estimated to have a market value of approximately Rs 1.5 lakh.

According to officials, the raid was conducted following a tip-off about suspicious activity in the area. The suspects were detained during the operation, and a search of their belongings led to the recovery of the stolen gold chain.

Officer-in-Charge of West Police Station, Rana Chatterjee, confirmed that a case has been registered against the duo. They will be presented before the court today.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to find out if others were involved in the theft.
