Two Bangladeshi Nationals Detained in Agartala

Acting on a secret tip-off, personnel of the 42 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), along with other sister agencies, detained two Bangladeshi nationals from Joypur area of Agartala city on Tuesday.

The Officer-in-Charge of West Agartala Police Station Rana Chatterjee confirmed the detention and identified the individuals as Jahangir Mia and Hridoy Sarkar. Both are residents of Brahmanbaria district in Bangladesh.

Following their detention, the two were handed over to West Agartala Police Station. The police have produced them before the court seeking police remand for further interrogation.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the purpose of their presence in the city and whether they have links to any unlawful activities, the police said.
