Amid the ongoing elections for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), BJP candidate and party secretary Devid Debbarma reportedly escaped an alleged armed attack late last night in the Ramchandra Ghat area of Khowai district.

Debbarma, who is contesting from the Ramchandra Ghat constituency, claimed that a group of miscreants—allegedly supported by the Tipra Motha Party—carried out the attack.

He stated that the assailants were armed with firearms and sharp weapons and targeted a vehicle belonging to a BJP worker parked at his residence. He described the incident as an attempt on his life.

Reacting strongly, Debbarma criticized the opposition, questioning their claims of promoting unity and development. He alleged that such acts of violence contradict those promises and accused the Tipra Motha Party of creating an atmosphere of fear.

Despite the incident, Debbarma said his commitment remains unwavering. He emphasized his dedication to ensuring peace and development in Ramchandra Ghat, adding that his approach is rooted in harmony rather than conflict.

The incident has further heightened political tensions in the area, sparking concerns about security and the smooth conduct of elections.
