Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday chaired a high-level meeting at the state secretariat to review the progress of the ongoing expansion of National Highway 8 from Khayerpur to Champaknagar under West District.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of the Public Works Department (PWD), officials from National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), along with engineers and representatives of agencies engaged in the highway expansion project.
During the discussion, the minister reviewed various issues affecting the implementation of the project.
These included challenges related to construction, coordination, and other on-ground constraints that have slowed down progress.
Chowdhury emphasized the importance of resolving these bottlenecks at the earliest to ensure timely completion of the highway expansion. He stated that the purpose of the meeting was to identify practical solutions and streamline coordination among all stakeholders involved in the project.
Officials and representatives shared their inputs on the difficulties faced during execution, and discussions were held to find effective ways to overcome these hurdles.
The expansion of NH-8 is considered a crucial infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and boosting economic activities in the region. The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring smooth and efficient execution of the work.
