Tripura to get six new Eklavya Model Residential Schools: TW Minister

Tripura Tribal Affairs Minister Bikas Debbarma, upon his return from New Delhi on Tuesday morning, announced that the Central government has approved six new Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) for Tripura.

Addressing reporters, Debbarma said, “A new dawn is about to begin for Tripura. Central government has approved six new Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) for Tripura. The approval came following a crucial meeting with TWD Ministry Secretary Bibhu Nair in the national capital”.

He said that these schools will not only spread the light of education but also instill leadership, confidence, and creativity in children from tribal-dominated areas.

“Education is not just a curriculum—it is the backbone of a nation. With this decision, we are strengthening that backbone”, he said.

Debbarma said that the EMRS initiative, targeted at tribal and backward areas, aims to transform the educational landscape of the state. The schools will be equipped with modern infrastructure, residential facilities, and a holistic environment conducive to the overall development of children.

Debbarma emphasized that the project is more than just an administrative move. “Tripura is not just dreaming now; it is moving firmly towards making those dreams a reality. This project will help every child in the state build a better future.”

Responding to media queries, the Minister assured that the implementation process will begin swiftly through a collaborative effort between the central and state governments. He urged parents, teachers, and citizens to actively participate in this transformative educational journey.
