In a significant step towards empowering young girls and improving school infrastructure, Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Monday announced that the state government has installed sanitary vending machines in 455 schools and provided self-defense training to 1.42 lakh girl students across the state.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed building of Amtali Higher Secondary School, Dr. Saha highlighted the government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector.

Alongside the Amtali school, the Chief Minister also virtually inaugurated the newly built infrastructures of Henry Derozio Academy, Gandhigram H.S. School, Taltala H.S. School, Indranagar High School, and Nandan Nagar H.S. School.

“Our aim is to ensure quality and inclusive education for all,” Dr. Saha said. “As part of this mission, we are upgrading infrastructure in 123 schools and actively recruiting both teaching and non-teaching staff to bridge existing gaps in the education department.”

Stressing the importance of environmental awareness, Dr. Saha reminded students and citizens alike of the need to protect the planet. “Earth is our only home. Preserving its ecological balance by protecting flora and fauna is crucial. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently urged, we must care for nature and embrace sustainable practices,” he said.

The Chief Minister underscored that traditional methods of education are no longer sufficient. “We must update our approach. Education is the backbone of development. Without it, no state or country can progress. Our government is prioritizing education like never before,” he added.

The event, held at Amtali H.S. School premises, served as a testament to the state’s evolving education landscape, with a focus not just on infrastructure, but also on holistic student development — particularly for girls, who now have greater access to hygiene facilities and self-defense training to ensure their well-being and confidence.
