Tripura Police seize yaba worth Rs 60 lakh from bordering village

In a major crackdown on narcotics smuggling, Tripura Police late on Wednesday night seized Yaba tablets valued at around ?60 lakh from Mati Nagar, a bordering village under West Tripura district.

Amtali Sub-Divisional Police Officer Parmita Pandey informed that acting on a tip-off, police personnel from Amtali Police Station conducted a raid at the residence of one Mangal Miah in Mati Nagar on the night of August 20.

“We cordoned off the house and initiated a search operation. A room belonging to Mangal Miah was found locked, which we opened in the presence of an Executive Magistrate. During the search, we recovered 40,000 Yaba tablets with an estimated market value of ?60 lakh,” said the SDPO.

She further added that the accused managed to flee before the raid and is currently absconding. Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend him.
