In a significant operation against drug trafficking, Tripura Police on Sunday seized 80,000 Yaba tablets valued at approximately ₹4 crore from a truck at the Churaibari Check Post in North Tripura district, near the Assam border.

According to North District Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai, the operation was conducted based on a tip-off.

He said a small truck entering the state was intercepted, and upon inspection, eight packets containing the illicit tablets were discovered hidden inside the vehicle.

SP Rai stated that the successful seizure is in line with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s mission of a “Nasha Mukti Tripura” (Drug-Free Tripura) and follows directives issued by the Director General of Police to intensify the crackdown on narcotics across the state.

One individual, identified as the truck driver Sanjay Sahani (24), a resident of Tripura, has been taken into custody in connection with the case. Authorities have launched a full investigation to trace the broader network involved in the smuggling operation.
