In a significant anti-drug operation, the Tripura Police’s Crime Branch, under the leadership of IGP Avula Ramesh Reddy, has destroyed a large consignment of banned Eskuf syrups seized at Jirania Railway Station.
The seizure, which took place on October 17, involved 1,07,000 bottles valued at approximately ₹2.12 crore, marking it as the largest confiscation of its kind in the region.
According to IGP Ramesh Reddy, “Following proper legal procedures and court approval, the entire shipment has been destroyed. Investigations revealed that the consignment originated from Delhi and was reportedly destined for export to Bangladesh. Five individuals have been arrested in connection with the case and are currently in judicial custody. A charge sheet will be filed soon.”
Emphasizing the state government’s strong stance against illegal drugs, he added, “Combating drug trafficking is a top priority. The Anti-Narcotics Task Force, operating under my supervision and in coordination with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), will ensure strict legal action. No one involved will be spared.”
