The Tripura government is preparing a series of new measures aimed at improving education, employment, and livelihood opportunities for Scheduled Caste (SC) communities across the state, SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das said on Monday.
Addressing a departmental consultation meeting at Sonar Tori State Guest House in Agartala, the Minister highlighted the importance of identifying the evolving needs of SC families and designing programmes that can provide sustainable economic benefits.
Das stated that the government is focusing on strengthening skill development, entrepreneurship, and educational support for SC youth. He emphasized that local representatives, welfare committee members, and departmental officials should work closely with communities to ensure that development initiatives are aligned with grassroots requirements.
The Minister informed that consultations would be conducted with stakeholders from different districts to gather suggestions for future welfare projects. These recommendations will help the government formulate a comprehensive roadmap for the advancement of Scheduled Caste communities.
He also reviewed the progress of several ongoing schemes related to scholarships, self-employment assistance, housing support, and community development. Officials were instructed to accelerate project implementation and improve awareness among beneficiaries.
According to Das, special attention will be given to enhancing access to education, vocational training, and financial assistance so that young people from SC families can become self-reliant and contribute to the state's economic growth.
Senior officials and representatives from various SC Welfare Sub-Committees attended the meeting and discussed strategies to improve service delivery and expand the reach of welfare programmes.
The Minister reiterated the government's commitment to inclusive development and said that empowering Scheduled Caste communities remains a key priority in Tripura's social welfare agenda.
