Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Monday urged the younger generation to come forward in greater numbers for voluntary blood donation, describing the act as a noble service to humanity that promotes compassion and a sense of social responsibility.

“Voluntary blood donation is a great service to humanity. It helps develop compassion and a sense of responsibility towards society among the youth,” the Chief Minister said.

Dr. Saha was speaking at a voluntary blood donation camp organised by the Nikhil Tripura Mahanam Sevak Sangha at Sri Sri Mahanam Angan in Banamalipur, Agartala, as part of the foundation anniversary celebrations of the religious organisation.

Appreciating the Sangha for its social initiatives, the Chief Minister said the organisation has been working throughout the year for the welfare of society through various charitable and community-oriented activities.

“I am very happy to be present at this social programme. The organisation has been carrying out various social welfare activities throughout the year. Its message of service and social responsibility should reach a wider section of society,” he said.

Dr. Saha said religious and social organisations have an important role to play in promoting spiritual awareness, moral values and human compassion among people. He also highlighted the Sangha’s initiatives to distribute food and ration items among economically weaker sections.

He urged the organisation to work more extensively among the younger generation and encourage values such as honesty, kindness, forgiveness and tolerance.

The Chief Minister said initiatives such as blood donation camps also help strengthen social harmony and foster a spirit of brotherhood among people.

“People must stand by one another. We should remain connected with our cultural heritage and values,” he said.

Dr. Saha also recalled the contribution of Mahanambrata Brahmachari, saying that he possessed deep knowledge of Indian philosophy and Sanatan Dharma and inspired people through his teachings and ideals.

The Chief Minister said social service initiatives inspired by such ideals can help strengthen public trust and encourage greater participation in community welfare.

Mayor and MLA of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar, Chairman of the Corporation’s Central Zone Ratna Dutta, office-bearers of Mahanam Sevak Sangha and other distinguished guests were present at the programme.
