Ganesh Puja celebrations have expanded significantly across Agartala this year, with 94 pujas being organised under six police stations in the West District, compared to 68 celebrations recorded in 2025.

According to a senior police official, the rise in the number of pujas has prompted the authorities to strengthen security arrangements across the city, particularly around major puja venues.

Of the 94 pujas being organised this year, the highest number is under AD Nagar Police Station, where 30 celebrations are being held. West Agartala Police Station has reported 22 pujas, followed by 18 under East Agartala Police Station. New Capital Complex and Amtali police stations are witnessing nine pujas each, while six celebrations are being organised under Airport Police Station.

To ensure smooth celebrations and maintain law and order, an additional 120 security personnel have been deployed at different locations across Agartala. Police teams are also carrying out regular vehicle and naka checking and maintaining heightened surveillance around the puja venues.

“Since the number of pujas has increased, we have deployed additional police personnel across Agartala city and in and around the puja venues. We are also conducting regular vehicle checking, naka checking and keeping a close watch on the overall situation,” the police official said.

As part of the security and traffic management measures, no-entry restrictions have also been imposed in certain parts of Agartala between 2 PM and 12 midnight.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday inaugurated several Ganesh Puja celebrations across Agartala and extended his greetings to devotees on the occasion.
