Former Tripura Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb, a member of the Advisory Committee chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, raised concerns over delays in the rehabilitation of people affected by natural disasters in the state.

The discussion took place during a meeting on “Disaster Management and Capacity Building.”

Deb highlighted that slow post-disaster surveys were hampering timely relief and urged faster assessment processes to ensure aid reaches affected communities promptly.

In response, the Committee Chairman stated that the Home Ministry had deployed the Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) on 19 August 2019 and allocated adequate funds for affected populations.

The IMCT had visited disaster-hit areas, evaluated the damage, and reviewed relief measures by the state administration, assuring that the allocated funds would reach the affected families without delay.

Deb’s recommendations were given priority, receiving a positive response, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening disaster management and rehabilitation efforts in Tripura.
