Former Tripura Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the CPIM, branding the principal opposition party as an “Emergency Party” and accusing it of ruining the state during its 35-year-long rule.
Speaking at a sports event in Kumarghat under Unakoti District, Deb alleged that the Left regime was marked by “ill mentality” and negligence towards the people’s welfare.
“The CPIM leaders always assured people they would work, but what they actually did was push Tripura towards destruction. That is why I call them the Emergency Party. They were a permanent emergency for the state, with no culture and no vision,” Deb said.
Highlighting the Left’s alleged apathy towards sports, the BJP MP claimed that the previous government never supported internationally acclaimed gymnast and Padma Shri awardee Dipa Karmakar, nor did they provide adequate infrastructure for her training.
“Communists never wanted the progress of Tripura’s youth. They never worked for the development of society or the nation. Even today, I dedicate only one hour to myself and the rest of my time to serving people and the country. With positive thinking and by following the path shown by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura can reach new heights,” he added.
Deb further stressed that while political parties have their role, the BJP is rooted in Indian culture, Sanatan values, and traditions. Encouraging the younger generation, he advised:
“Youths should remain engaged in sports and physical activities to lead a healthy and disciplined life.”
