A crucial high-level meeting between senior officials of Tripura and Mizoram is set to take place in Agartala in the first week of August 2026, with the objective of finding a lasting resolution to the long-standing inter-state border dispute.

The meeting will bring together key administrative and security officials from both states, including the Home Secretaries of Tripura and Mizoram, Tripura’s Revenue Secretary, the District Magistrate of North Tripura, the concerned Superintendent of Police, and other senior government representatives.

The initiative follows the recent positive discussion between Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha and Mizoram Chief Minister during a sideline interaction at the North Eastern Council (NEC) meeting in Shillong, where both leaders expressed commitment towards resolving the border issue through dialogue and cooperation.

During the upcoming talks in Agartala, officials will deliberate on several important aspects, including boundary demarcation, coordination between administrations, maintenance of law and order, challenges faced by border residents, and measures for improving development activities in affected areas.

The Tripura government stated that efforts to resolve the border issue have received renewed momentum under the leadership and guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. Both states have reiterated their commitment to achieving a peaceful and mutually acceptable solution through constructive discussions.

The meeting is also expected to strengthen coordination between the two administrations, enhance security arrangements along the border, and promote development in border regions.

Officials expressed hope that the Agartala discussions would mark another significant step towards resolving the decades-old dispute and further strengthen the relationship between Tripura and Mizoram.
