Opposition Leader Jitendra Chaudhury on Tuesday called upon people from all sections of society to unite for the restoration of democracy in the state, while addressing the central conference of the Tripura Rajya Upajati Ganamukti Parishad scheduled to be held on January 29.

Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhury said that democratic rights are steadily shrinking under the present circumstances.

He emphasized that it is crucial to build a united movement to safeguard people’s legitimate demands, freedom of expression, and the democratic space.

He further alleged that divisive politics is being used to create rifts among people, and stressed the need to fight against such forces to protect the Constitution and democratic values. Chaudhury highlighted that the Tripura Rajya Upajati Ganamukti Parishad has a very important role to play in this struggle.

Addressing the representatives attending the conference, he urged them to further strengthen the organization and intensify the movement for the restoration of democracy at all levels, from villages to cities.
