Tripura Leader of Opposition and CPIM state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury on Saturday condemned the ruling BJP, calling them “cowards,” after a local CPIM office in Agartala’s Pratapgarh area was reportedly vandalized.
Chaudhury visited the affected office and alleged that the attack was carried out by BJP-backed individuals using a bulldozer.
“They targeted the Pratapgarh local committee office around 2 pm in what appears to be a premeditated attack. The level of barbarism by RSS and BJP in Tripura has now reached its peak. By making false promises, they came to power, and for the past seven years, the BJP government has been exploiting people. Democratic rights and law and order have all but disappeared. People are now rising against their misrule,” he said.
The LoP further accused the BJP of avoiding accountability. “They are cowards. They do not have the courage to act openly, which is why they resorted to vandalism under cover of night. This is what they call good governance and development? This is the reality of their administration—they are destroying democracy every day. Our protests will continue until the BJP is removed from power. Attacks like these will not intimidate us. We will cooperate fully with the police and provide all necessary documentation,” Chaudhury added.
