Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma on Friday announced that a long-cherished dream of the people of Tripura is set to become reality, with the Central Government approving the establishment of a Central Tribal University in the state.
Debbarma said the proposed institution would not only serve as a premier centre of higher learning but also act as a catalyst for regional development, skill enhancement, employment generation, and preservation of tribal heritage.
“The University will empower future generations of Tripura to become more educated, skilled, and self-reliant. While fostering modern education, it will also ensure the preservation of our rich cultural and traditional identity, further strengthening Tripura’s role in the nation’s development,” the minister stated.
Expressing gratitude, Debbarma added, “On behalf of the people of Tripura, I extend my sincere thanks to the Hon’ble Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Shri Jual Oram Ji, for this historic and visionary decision.”
The sanction of the Central Tribal University is expected to significantly boost higher education opportunities for tribal students in Tripura, while also promoting inclusive growth in the state.
