The financial crisis within the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTADC) administration has sparked fresh outrage, as pensioners continue to reel under a 19-month-long pension freeze.

Sources said that despite repeated deputations and appeals, the situation remains grim, pushing retired employees to the brink of desperation.

On Monday, members of the TTAADC Employees Pensioners’ Association once again submitted a deputation to the Deputy CEO of TTADC, expressing their frustration and helplessness over the prolonged delay in pension disbursement. 

The Association’s president stated that nearly 19 months have passed without any pension payments, leaving thousands of families in extreme financial distress.

“Many pensioners are on the verge of starvation. We are unable to buy basic necessities for our children,” the president said. 

“If our demands are not met by July 10, we will launch a larger movement.”

The association members alleged that although the state government has released funds to the ADC, the administration under Tipra Motha has failed to maintain financial discipline, resulting in a severe mismanagement of available resources. They claimed that after paying salaries to active employees, no money is left for the pensioners.

In an emotionally charged appeal, one of the pensioners said, “If the administration cannot pay our dues, they should at least deposit Rs 1,000 in our accounts. We will use that money to buy pesticides and end our lives, along with our families.”

The pensioners also slammed the Tipra Motha leadership for inaction. “The Supremo of Tipra Motha is reportedly unwell, living only on milk and rice, and seems detached from the crisis that pensioners are facing. He continues to offer only assurances but no real solutions,” another pensioner remarked bitterly.
