In a bid to reinforce its grassroots network and spread awareness about constitutional values, the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Tuesday announced the launch of two major initiatives—‘Save Constitution Abhiyan’ and ‘Ghar Ghar Abhiyan’.
Addressing a press conference, TPCC President Asish Kumar Saha said the decision was taken following a comprehensive meeting with all wings of the Pradesh Congress to chalk out future strategies.
“We convened a meeting today with all organisational wings of the Tripura Pradesh Congress to discuss upcoming programs. The ‘Save Constitution Abhiyan’ will be rolled out from the block level up to the district level,” Saha stated.
He further informed that the Congress party in Tripura is also sensitising its leaders and workers about key resolutions adopted during the recent All India Congress Committee (AICC) national convention held in Gujarat.
“We are implementing a 1.15-month long program decided by the AICC. This will be followed by the ‘Ghar Ghar Abhiyan’, which aims to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level,” he added.
Saha said the ‘Save Constitution Abhiyan’ also includes a demand for a nationwide caste-based census—an issue the Congress has been actively championing at the national level.
Accompanied by senior Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman, Saha also slammed the recently enacted Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025.
“We strongly oppose the Waqf Amendment Act, 2025. The Congress will continue to protest against it in defense of the rights of the Muslim community,” Saha asserted.
