Amid growing public dissatisfaction over the deteriorating health infrastructure in Tripura, the Sadar District Congress today organized a massive protest rally in the city, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.

The protest culminated in the submission of a deputation to the Director of the Health Department.

Congress workers and supporters marched through the streets alleging large-scale corruption in medical examinations, critical shortage of doctors and nurses, and a rapid decline in hospital infrastructure across the state.

The protestors have claimed that repeated complaints had fallen on deaf ears, compelling them to take to the streets.

Speaking to journalists, a senior Congress leader alleged that "the state's healthcare services have completely collapsed under the BJP government."

He asserted that the situation is now so grave that patients are dying due to lack of treatment, and even basic safety standards are not being maintained in hospitals.

“In Tripura, it is now impossible to run the health system under the leadership of dentists. Every medical examination is marred by corruption, and GB Hospital has become a glaring example of the government's failure. Patients are now being infected within hospital premises, and just recently, a ceiling fan fell on a patient,” he said.

He also pointed out the alarming shortage of healthcare workers, saying, “Hospitals are operating with minimal staff, and this has become a life-threatening crisis for ordinary citizens.”

The Sadar District Congress warned of intensified agitation if immediate steps are not taken to overhaul the health system and ensure accountability from those in power.
