Preparations have gathered momentum for the three-day Diwali Mela to be organised from November 6 to 8 at the historic Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur, one of the revered 51 Shakti Peethas.
The first preparatory meeting for the annual festival was recently held at the conference hall of the Gomati District Magistrate’s office. The meeting was chaired by Gomati Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Debal Deb Roy and attended by MLA Abhishek Deb Roy, Gomati District Magistrate Rinku Lather and senior officials from various departments.
Detailed discussions were held on strengthening security arrangements, improving facilities for devotees and visitors, managing crowds and ensuring seamless coordination among the departments involved in organising the mela.
As part of the enhanced security measures, authorities have decided to deploy drones for aerial surveillance and install CCTV cameras at key locations across the mela grounds as well as within the temple premises. The measures are aimed at ensuring effective monitoring and maintaining a safe environment for devotees and visitors throughout the festival.
The three-day celebration will also feature cultural programmes every evening at the open-air stage. Artists from Tripura as well as other states are expected to take part, adding to the festive and cultural appeal of the event.
An organising committee headed by Debal Deb Roy as chairman has been constituted to supervise the overall arrangements. Fourteen sub-committees have also been formed to look after different aspects of the mela, including security, cultural programmes, crowd management, visitor amenities and other essential services.
The district administration, along with the organising committee and participating departments, has begun preparations with an emphasis on ensuring a safe, well-organised and visitor-friendly Diwali Mela at the historic temple.
